WISDOM TOOTH SURGERY

Impacted teeth aren’t limited to just wisdom teeth; other teeth like cuspids and bicuspids can also become impacted. When these teeth are impacted, they can cause similar issues to those seen with impacted wisdom teeth.

IMPACTED TEETH Wisdom teeth, or third molars, are the final set of teeth to come in. While some people have enough space in their jaw for these teeth to emerge properly, this is not often the case. More frequently, one or more of these molars may not align correctly or fail to fully break through the gum line, becoming trapped or "impacted" between the jawbone and gum tissue. Impacted wisdom teeth can lead to issues such as swelling, pain, and infection of the surrounding cheek and gum tissue. They can also cause damage to adjacent teeth, gums, and bone, and potentially result in the development of cysts or tumors that may harm parts of the jaw. Therefore, it is generally advised to have impacted wisdom teeth surgically removed.
WISDOM TOOTH SHOULD BE EXTRACTED IN FOLLOWING CONDITIONS: - Repeated history of pain - Swelling - Pus discharge - Cavities in the wisdom teeth - Tooth positioned in a manner likely to cause future problems - X-ray reveals issues - Localized gum infection - Damage to adjacent teeth
WISDOM TOOTH SHOULD NOT BE EXTRACTED IN FOLLOWING CONDITIONS: - Teeth have erupted in a healthy position - No signs of cavities or gum disease - Teeth are deeply impacted or in a risky position but are unlikely to cause future issues When evaluating whether to remove wisdom teeth, several factors are considered. If the teeth have emerged in a healthy and proper position without any indications of cavities or gum disease, removal may not be necessary. Additionally, if the wisdom teeth are deeply impacted or positioned in a manner that is unlikely to cause problems or discomfort in the future, they might be left alone.
